Pittsburgh Barbecue Chicken
- In a large heavy sauce pot, melt your butter over low heat. Add onions and let them mingle with the butter as it melts. Stir regularly or your butter will burn. Add the sugar and let melt thoroughly. Add mustard & hot sauce. Add Open Pit Original Flavor Barbecue Sauce and stir. Put on medium to high heat and stir often. Add vinegar, hot sauce and the fresh squeezed juice that comes from the lemon halves. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
- On grill, place chicken, skin side down. Grill, uncovered, 1 hour or until tender and juices run clear. Turn and brush often with the barbecue sauce during the last 30 minutes.
- Serve chicken with extra sauce on the side.
Suggestions: Use this tangy sauce brushed on grilled salmon, sword fish, or pork chops.
